Walking in the area

There is a huge range of walks in the area to suit all abilities.

Long Distance Walks:

Landsker Borderlands Walk

This is a 60 mile circular walk which can be accessed within 3 miles of Llanfallteg at Login. The Landsker Line is an imaginary line separating the Welsh speaking North of Pembrokeshire from its English speaking south and here you can sample the rich heritage of this frontier. The walk is a green trail which leads you through hills, villages, meadows, woodland and along the rivers and estuaries of the area. Walking surfaces are generally firm but with some muddy sections.

South of the Landsker

This Trail is 60 miles and begins in Narberth and leads to Saundersfoot from where it follows the Pembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail to Bosherston through the upper reaches of the Eastern Cleddau river before returning to Narberth.

Preseli Circle

This is a 67 miles walk around the Preseli Hills which can be accessed in Crymych some 10 miles from Llanfallteg. This takes you to Fishguard through the beautiful Gwaun Valley and then back to Crymych via Cilgerran and St Dogmaels.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path

This path starts in Amroth which is 8 miles from Llanfallteg and follows the Pembrokeshire coast for 186 miles to St Dogmeals on the north coast. It lies almost entirely within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park - Britain’s only coastal national park - and the trail displays an array of coastal flowers and bird life, as well as evidence of human activity from Neolithic times to the present.

This can be walked in manageable sections and a bus service operates during the summer months for those who wish to walk in one direction.

Shorter Walks:

The Knights Way

This route is 9 miles long and also begins in Amroth before passing through Ludchurch and Templeton before finishing in the upper reaches of the Eastern Cleddau.

Canaston & Minwear Woods

This walk begins at Blackpool Mill some 6 miles from Llanfallteg and offers a number of walking trails which criss cross the beautiful ancient woodland of
Canaston and Minwear.

Crymych-The Frenni Trails

Four circular walks of varying lengths beginning and ending at Crymych, some 10 miles from Llanfallteg. They include some hill walking and pass through the surrounding communities of of Hermon, Glogue and Llanfyrnach.

The Miners Walk

The walk closely follows the route of the old Saundersfoot Railway which transported coal from the collieries at Thomas Chapel, Pentlepoir and Stepaside. The full walk is 10.6 miles but the shortened alternative route halves the distance.
